for those that self-host discourse for community forums.. how big of a maintenance burden is it? does it take a lot of resources from the server?

from time to time I wonder if kxstudio, carla, dpf, distrho ports, cardinal and related projects should have a central place of discussion.
I still have a rocketchat instance running, but it rarely sees any activity, and it is just not the type of place best suited for long-term discussions..

could replace one for the other 🤔

It's kinda heavy, being a Rails application... Haven't touched it in years, but iirc you needed 2GB of RAM to be able to handle a reasonable load

@refi64 my server has 64gb, so that shouldnt be a problem. maybe the ideas that it is too heavy comes from people trying to use it in simple/cheap VPS?

Well iirc it also does tricks like building the docker images w/ the config locally so that might hit CPU a bit 😅 but yeah it's not *that* bad imo, kinda typical of what you'd expect from the tech stack it uses
