To Qt or not Qt, that is the question...
Also moving away from Berlin into Hamburg... 🤔

A very hard choice 🥥

@falktx interesting! Well, HH is only two hours by train 😏

Do you have to move there for a Qt job?
Which branch did you apply for?

@dvzrv they did not have a dev position open in Berlin, so I went to the closest one.
The branch in Hamburg does all the things for qt.io/product/quality-assuranc
So I would be joining that side

@falktx

A simple answer to a simple question

Truthfully I am not a gui designer. I find gui interfaces generally frustrating. The very best are helpful, but they are an exception

Also I have no experience in the last decade with Qt or GTK.

I have dealt with:

Flutter
SwiftUI
HTML5

I have had to design some UI, but mostly maintain the plumbing backing them up

Of the three, from my perspective, there is no competition: HTML5 is much better. Continued....

@falktx

Maintaining the other two was a nightmare , I found it very hard to find where code was executed so I could work on it

So I recommend building or using a little webservrer to drive the service and a browser as the front end with a web app in JavaScript (yuk, but does the job) or WASM (tools still suck, but let's you use better languages for development)

Sorry about the novel. I was triggered!

@worik I think you got the wrong idea.

this is not about picking toolkits, but about picking a job, which would require relocating to a new city.

due to everything still being in progress and negotiations pending, I need to keep it vague.
but the relocation is real, it is not a remote position if going for Qt.
