Not everyone is happy with Cardinal pushing dark colors everywhere.
A little bit of white then.
Feels very weird after being used to dark mode.
Still WIP, will finish up the details for this later on, but shows promise.
Can likely be an official feature in 22.08.
The cool part is that it changes during runtime!
I see signs of great design.
3 of the plugins listed (with names visible) are VST3 and 2 are VST2. Can you tell which is which?
PS: The order is not consistent, VST3 is first for one, VST3 is last for the other. 🤦♂️
btw, the "Cardinal WebApp" (is that what we should call it?) now features audio input, MIDI and dynamic buffer size changes, all accessible in the engine menu.
Almost viable as a production tool.
With touch events this might get even more useful, need to try to set that up next...

For those following the cardinal web saga, I deleted the old files on my personal domain.

I keep writing about it, not sure if annoying or cool...
Anyhow, file dialogs for importing and exporting patches, samples etc works on the the Cardinal web thingy now.
Can upload mp3 files and play them. Previously loaded files are kept in memory, so they appear on the list.

Added the missing ValleyAudio and ChowDSP that failed to build before.
And there is file open and save, though you need to save first before you can open. Dont ask...
Maybe later with WebMIDI this can be even more useful. Maybe touch events too, why not.
For now I am happy with the results. Great progress in just a few days, something that was mostly for trying out and testing. But works so well!

I am actually amazed this works as well as it does.
I skipped ChowDSP and ValleyAudio, everything else just built as-is without changes.
Made some changes to the page loading layout too, so it resizes with the window now.
There is still a "crash" when adding modules, but you can click away (outside the module browser dialog) to close it, and the module will be on the Rack.
Who wants a new scope?

Recently been doing an audio-to-cv-pitch plugin, based on previous work by a coworker.
The result is this little LV2 plugin, can be seen at https://github.com/DISTRHO/PitchTrackingSeries
Additionally, because this is CV, added it in Cardinal just now too.
Scope shows it is able to follow the frequency change of an oscillator through an LFO.

VCV Rack Fundamental modules are coming to Cardinal!
New panels contributed by a user on GitHub.
The bulk of the work for the implementation is done, now it is just a few missing custom widgets needed and then some polish (making sure everything is consistent in terms of position, size, style, etc)
The next 22.05 is going to be a very fine release. ✨
Just got LV2 plugins working inside Cubase and FL Studio.
This feels sooo wrong haha 😂
Resizing doesn't seem to work on Cubase, don't know why, but audio does which is the important part.
Still early days, but finally got some sound out, even if choppy and unstable.
One day my full suite of tools will run on Haiku, we are not there yet, but we are one step closer.

With HaikuOS Xlibe compat thing we can use some stock X11 code directly in Haiku, nice!
glx doesn't work yet, but cairo stuff does.

What about a video player in your modular Rack?
Actually, this is me testing embedding external stuff into Cardinal, MPV just provides a great testcase for it. Plus it ends up being a little bit useful, so win-win.
One more done, only MIDI-Map and MIDI-Gate to go, and the replacement of Rack core modules in Cardinal will be complete.
We are almost at the point where all license stuff is 100% clean, an a kinda "RC" status can de declared.
Soon soon.
Interesting that we can keep existing background by setting OpenGL clear color as full transparency.
Result is quite cool, even if for a toy, but somehow looks good and professional (to me at least anyway).
