Wondering of a quick way to get more plugins loading inside Ildaeil, doing background process scanning (with cache and timestamp invalidation etc) has to come at some point, but would be cool to have something a bit easier that can be enabled early...
What about having a "Load from file..." on the plugin type combo-box?
Will fail for "shell" plugins that contain more than 1 plugin per binary, but those are not too common.. So maybe this is enough for now?
@unfa maybe that is the case for developers too, so the non-working cases end up unfixed.
or it could be due to a bias.
if some folks already know a specific hw does not work great on linux, there is less incentive to buy it. which perpetuates the non-linux-support further..
or more likely, this is just too damn hard to get right and only a few people know enough in order fix this. and their time is being spent elsewhere.
@unfa You know what they say, YMMV (your mileage may vary).
Out of the many PCs I had/have, 0 of them had suspend issues.
Even have the main desktop PC connected to a UPS so that when PC is suspended, the speakers and other eletronics turn off.
Waking up the PC automatically turns these on again.
All just works! π€·

We got audio, midi, params, state and gui. I do not have a specific CLAP plugin for each thing, Ildaeil saves the day by bringing other formats as CLAP.
This still in a separate branch (named "reorganize").
But just need to fix the make-install step and merge all changes back to the main branch. Likely next week.
Then fun times with CLAP will begin π π π
@be coming once Ildaeil supports cached/db scanned plugins. Something that Carla needs to do first..

I've truncated the 30-minute warmup section so you don't have to skip anything :D
Huge thanks to @falktx for hosting!

That used to not work very well so I am happy so say that now it does!
Enjoy :)
@witchescauldron well, mainstreaming is a deathcult given the status quo of what the mainstream is. I don't want to be forever counter-culture. I don't want to be rebellious for the sake of rebellion. I want environmental sustainability and economic democracy to *become* mainstream.
@wolftune some governments have started to take notice and have funds for such things, master_me was one of those. And last time I checked France was sponsoring the development of Matrix.
So there is some small progress in the right direction..?
IMO the real, proper solution cant be done while we have the current economic system favoring profits above all else, realistically that is not achievable.
Institutions sponsoring development efforts is though.
People who think "Open Source is thriving, it's everywhere!" and are all optimistic about it are doing the same thing as the people with electric cars and solar panels on their McMansions thinking that we're on track to deal with the climate crisis.
The *real* solutions for a healthy sustainable FLO world are all still marginalized and struggling, and the capitalist #greenwashing and #openwashing serve mainly to delude people about the state of things.
Dragonfly Reverb has just had a new release - 3.2.7 (including a CLAP version of the plug-ins).

Yet another release, this time Ildaeil for its v1.1 that brings JSFX "plugin" hosting, fixes its VST3 support and adds CLAP (as in, Ildaeil as VST3 and CLAP plugin, not for hosting yet)

Enjoy!
@unfa oh hey, I know those guys! π

@meka @prokoudine has a nice article summing it up https://lwn.net/Articles/893048/
@unfa tbqh I wouldnt trust "techrights" anymore. they were heavily in favour of freenode when the whole hosting takeover happened. plus a couple of other things better not spoken of online..
I would watch out very carefully (as in, dont assume truthful statements) for anything coming from their side.
