#Cardinal could be described as #VCVrack in a box" - an #audio #plugin packed with #OpenSource modules that allows you to build modular patches, effects, #synthesizers and whatnot and have them conveniently packaged in a plug-in. Unless you explicitly load external plug-ins (via the Ildaeil module) the patches are completely self-contained and perfectly portable.

Lately I've been synthesizing car engine audio assets for a game with it.

Hello Fediverse, happy to join you :) Robin Gareus recently added a tiny nostalgic feature: importing lyrics from MIDI files as region markers. The "Import MIDI markers" checkbox has to be on. You can also convert those to location markers and then clean up region markers. The new feature is coming in v7.2 soon.

@hisham_hm we got this real life location in Czech republic. Never visited it (not counting one ride trough their train station).

I am really sick and tired of these "the fediverse and what is wrong with it" posts promoting podcasts etc. This is all still deeply embedded in the algorithmic approach of centralised services that promote negativity to sell advertisement space. Don't do that. There's a better way. Offer solutions, not more problems. Le Sigh.

@diogo this is also why I say folk who boost a lot are in some ways heros of the fediverse. Some folks might find it strange but it literally is how those of us on self-hosted and very small (<1000 users) servers find things as there are very few relays around

one of the hardest things about self hosting isn't being discovered. it is DISCOVERING, as in finding posts by other people that interests you. I just realize I am following 1k people which is pretty extreme but even then I sometimes miss a lot.

This is probably one of the harder aspects of self-hosting. relays help a bit and I am looking forward to being able to re-enable them.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, Fediverse/Mastodon, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Fediverse plus Mastodon. Mastodon is not a social network unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Fediverse system made useful by GNU Social, ActivityPub and blobcat emoji comprising a full Fediverse as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium.

Many ActivityPub users run a modified version of GNU social every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU social which is widely used today is often called "Mastodon", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically GNU social, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Mastodon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Mastodon is the instance: the program in the network that disseminates the shitposts to the other instances that federate. The instance is an essential part of a Fediverse, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete Fediverse. Mastodon is normally used in combination with ActivityPub: the whole system is basically ActivityPub with Mastodon added, or Fediverse/Mastodon. All the so-called "Mastodon" instances are really instances of Fediverse/Mastodon.
