@morgthorak I think you might want to make sure you don’t follow me.

Because your “woke communist propaganda” comment makes me think you’re a moron of the first order.

I strongly suspect I am one of those “woke communists” you worry about. But you probably couldn’t actually explain what either of those words actually mean, could you?

I’m a card-carrying atheist, I think a woman’s right to choose is very important, I think that “well regulated militia” means that guns should be carefully licensed and not just randomly given to any moron with a pulse, and I couldn’t care less if you decided to dress up in the “wrong” clothes or decided you’d rather live your life without feeling tied to whatever plumbing you were born with.

And dammit, if that all makes me “woke”, then I think anybody who uses that word as a pejorative is a f*cking disgrace to the human race. So please just unfollow me right now.

by the way, the LADSPA/VST2/VST3/CLAP support needs latest Carla from git, which is not enabled on those PPA builds.
on those you only get LV2 and JSFX, though with carla-patchbay you can have the full carla just a bit less integrated.

Alright, who wants to try/test OBS with audio plugin support?
(Linux users only for now 🐧)

The related discussion and code changes are part of this pull request github.com/obsproject/obs-stud

I have automated build artifacts in github.com/falkTX/obs-studio/a

And also set up an Ubuntu PPA for easy install launchpad.net/~falktx/+archive

Make sure to install both Carla and OBS.
If all is well you will see 2 new input sources and filters - "Audio Plugin" and "Carla Patchbay"

Let me know how it works for you!

@cassidy @LWN except they also drop support for it, from what I understand RH had developers working on it. At least one of them moved to Collabora and will keep working on LibreOffice

Working on the final UI details for audio plugins in OBS.

Automatic plugin discovery is in place, but we can force a new plugin search if needed.

Hoping to have all in place already this weekend for some initial testing.

why is the rust community Like That

I know that if i'm getting deeper into embedded stuff i should consider it instead of c++, but ugh. Seems like there's a coc-shaped radiation cloud emanating from them every six months.

Looking for a good starting point to get an overview of all relevant information about the Chaos Communication Camp 2023? Here: events.ccc.de/2023/05/27/camp2

@sjaehn understandable, different goals then.
my point with DPF is to have an alternative to other frameworks and also works for me, for releasing not just opensource things but allow commercial plugins with it (there could be some funding for DPF from there someday).

Nothing against GPL, you know I use it often in other projects, but it is really not the goal here.

@sjaehn Is that drawn using cairo? if so we should integrate it in github.com/DISTRHO/DPF-Widgets sometime 💃

@jeffcliff wow something is seriously wrong with you.

everyone's situation is different, they can't just "fix" it, when I say most folks I know don't have enough savings that doesn't mean it is their fault as if they could magically fix their situation. I am sure if they could, they would.

and being self-sufficient is not inherently bad, why do you assume it is a shithole?

people with money dont want to pay for certain things anyway so this "plenty of money to go around" doesnt apply

@jeffcliff why do you keep insinuating homeless people are drug users, wtf

look, money is not a big motivator for me. I earn just enough to get by, not interested on much more. so "go and fix that" no thank you.

and why are you so annoyed by all this?
most of the people I know really cannot afford to hire others, they have their own bills and expenses to deal with and already a struggle to pay everything most of time.
most folks do not even have enough savings to last 2 months without a salary

@jeffcliff well if you dont care then you cant see the problem.

I cannot afford to pay someone to do work for me, most people also cannot. It is unrealistic to expect people to be able to pay for such things.
Where is the FUD in this?

@jeffcliff still dont get what you are on about.

you think paying a few people even just the minimum wage is cheap?

a small company can pay in between 100-500 eur in expenses for all services it uses, a bit more for renting an office.
a single full-time position is more than all those extra expenses combined.

for most people, even those with a stable job, the thought of hiring someone to do a task full-time is just out of question.
nowadays we are lucky if we can afford rent on our own.

@jeffcliff people are expensive is FUD? who are the ones giving the support besides people?
your reply makes no sense.
