I want Firefox to succeed more than ever and I support Mozilla finding better revenue sources than search engine default sales, but I do not support a $7M salary for its CEO.
I canceled my recurring donation to Mozilla because I need that money more than Mozilla’s CEO needs that money.
If there is a direct funding option of developers working on Firefox, I will happily reallocate that money. Send me links.
Ok so im reading this article on Roman Glazing and slowly I begin to realise that it was written by an AI. Witness the section on “What existed before windows” where it suddenly starts talking about MS-DOS….

Man Announces He Will Quit Drinking by 2050.
A Sydney man has set an ambitious target to phase out his alcohol consumption within the next 29 years, as part of an impressive plan to improve his health.
The program will see Greg Taylor, 73, continue to drink as normal for the foreseeable future, before reducing consumption in 2049 when he turns 101. He has assured friends it will not affect his drinking plans in the short or medium term.
Taylor said it was important not to rush the switch to non-alcoholic beverages. “It’s not realistic to transition to zero alcohol overnight. This requires a steady, phased approach where nothing changes for at least two decades,” he said, adding that he may need to make additional investments in beer consumption in the short term, to make sure no night out is worse off.

Annoyed that a website is doing something custom on right-click?
Did you expect the browser's context menu (Back, Reload, Save Page As, View Source etc.)?
Just hold the ⇧Shift key while clicking and Firefox will show the built-in context menu.
Edit: I had no idea this was such a widely appreciated post. Credit where credit is due: @dveditz told me about this trick a couple of months ago.
Every single time I need to do something a tiny bit custom in meson I end up in a rabbit hole of frustration, many tickets opened by other developers which a similar issue/request and many years pass with the situation unchanged...
The latest:
1. be able to specify a subdirectory for an output file https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/2320
2. be able to use exe-wrapper during build https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/11029 (it is only supported for tests)
so I need to hack my way around the build system yet again 😭
185 CI builds, and this is not the final form yet

last month at #ubuntuSummit I have given a talk about how the ongoing debacle of #AI in art exist in larger context of the problem of ownership in art,
and how reformulating the issue can help us start solving it.
The video of the talk is now up.
Imagine a world where survival isn't tied to your job. No strings. No prerequisites. Just a birthright. #BasicIncome. Enough money to live. Healthcare when you're ill.
Jobs? They should be about passion, fulfillment, not simply a way to pay for survival.
Let's rethink the way we live.

50 things you did not know you could do with #ardour in 50 mins!
The video of my presentation is now available at: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/50-things-you-did-not-know-you-could-do-with-ardour/109555
How many of these didn't you know about?
What's your favorite Ardour features that I've missed?
I feel like I should write another patreon update, we are getting to the end of the 2023 and it has now been near 1 year since the last update.
Life situation is just as uncertain as before though... hard to give updates when I dont know myself how things are going to be.
At least a small retrospective should be possible, skipping on any sort of future plans for now.
I somehow missed the newest release of #PeerTube yesterday. v6 looks like it has some really cool new features that make using more proprietary platforms less and less necessary. I love seeing this!
Ubuntu Summit 2023 videos are live now, here is mine for "Making a Standalone Effects Pedal System Based on Embed Linux"
