@gcrkrause @unfa peertube uses p2p, so I would not consider it much better in terms of leaking data...
It is great in the sense that taking down videos is much harder, but p2p solutions leak data by default :/

@falktx @gcrkrause I guess what Georg meant was that PeerTube instances will not include Google trackers. Is that right?

@unfa @gcrkrause correct. from what I see in your link, the page does not load anything that is external, so no connection to google analytics, hotjar metrics or anything like that.
peertube sites for now require enabling JS which is not ideal, but understandable...

@falktx @unfa Actually you can simply hit the download button and watch or stream the video directly over http, which wont use p2p and therefore wont leak data. But of course, as the server owner one could still track the http requests.

Anyway, the owner of the server is a friend of mine and I am quite sure he is not interested in earning money with your data, so its far better than using youtube in this aspect.

@gcrkrause @unfa almost everything is better than google, in regards to tracking (except facebook lol).
I was being pedantic there.

It is generally okay to use peertube sites, much better than youtube in terms of leaking data for sure. But it is not full leak-proof. Maybe nothing is.. :(

@falktx @unfa Jeah thats true. Well, you are right, I should have been more precise there to avoid distribution of false facts. So thanks for the hint, I will be more careful in the future.
