last month at #ubuntuSummit I have given a talk about how the ongoing debacle of #AI in art exist in larger context of the problem of ownership in art,
and how reformulating the issue can help us start solving it.
The video of the talk is now up.
Imagine a world where survival isn't tied to your job. No strings. No prerequisites. Just a birthright. #BasicIncome. Enough money to live. Healthcare when you're ill.
Jobs? They should be about passion, fulfillment, not simply a way to pay for survival.
Let's rethink the way we live.
if you are a UX designer and looking to volunteer for #FOSS / #FLOSS / #opensource projects. @owncast is looking for a #designer to join their team.

you can learn more about OwnCast from @gabek 's talk at #UbuntuSummit last month.
@woof it is well worth it though, just finished it
@unfa @Mirk0dex no new features correct, but regular maintenance updates for sure.
I am still in the process or organizing and cleaning up DISTRHO-Ports project so we can keep using Vitalium on the long-term.
See https://github.com/DISTRHO/DISTRHO-Ports/commits/master for the latest changes.
The public Vital source is a special kind of weirdness to maintain, as it needs JUCE 6.0 to work, it cannot be 6.1 or 7, must be exactly 6.0.
@mayor_dj I have that working via https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/pull/8919 since a few months now, among many other plugin details.
but blocked needing help to sort out a few last details.
The OBS folks do not seem very interested in helping out, sadly. So it is kinda in limbo for now
50 things you did not know you could do with #ardour in 50 mins!
The video of my presentation is now available at: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/50-things-you-did-not-know-you-could-do-with-ardour/109555
How many of these didn't you know about?
What's your favorite Ardour features that I've missed?
I feel like I should write another patreon update, we are getting to the end of the 2023 and it has now been near 1 year since the last update.
Life situation is just as uncertain as before though... hard to give updates when I dont know myself how things are going to be.
At least a small retrospective should be possible, skipping on any sort of future plans for now.
@yonder btw you might want to check out https://github.com/DISTRHO/DPF-makefile-action for automated builds
I somehow missed the newest release of #PeerTube yesterday. v6 looks like it has some really cool new features that make using more proprietary platforms less and less necessary. I love seeing this!
@yonder you should be able to just edit the page in https://github.com/DISTRHO/DPF/wiki/Plugins-made-with-DPF no?
Ubuntu Summit 2023 videos are live now, here is mine for "Making a Standalone Effects Pedal System Based on Embed Linux"
