One article to stay in the bookmarks for its usefulness in discussions surrounding privacy.
I saw people worried about #vaccines causing death. My wife is a doctor so I asked her.
It's complicated, but the general takeaway is: all medicine has risk involved. Just like driving a car or even walking near a roadway. Yet the risk vs reward ratio is usually such that we decide to use medicine. In people who don't have strong independent risk factors vaccines should not cause issues. There's always outliers, but generally vaccines save way, way more lives than they cost.
@unfa I find it quite sad that we even have to debate this.
All around awesome dude "hbomberguy" has a very nice and extensive video about this.
Cant recommend it enough.

Carla 2.3.1 has been released

Another small but important release.
A new JACK2 release. 🚀
Don't forget to restart the JACK server after the update.

LWN has a little article on github copilot https://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/862769/9cbeaabb61b9d47c/
Also links to https://gist.github.com/0xabad1dea/be18e11beb2e12433d93475d72016902 which is pretty interesting
I like this quote from the github gist:
> The inevitable conclusion is that Copilot can and will write security vulnerabilities on a regular basis
😂
@zkat great and always welcome!
I have quite a few opensource projects and very much welcome outside contributions.
They sometimes add support for things I don't completely understand myself, but that are useful to have in general.
Sometimes the changes are not good for merging, but bring a good core idea.
This doesn't seem controversial at all to me.
@The_Quantum_Alpha@mstdn.social it sometimes stops working when coding as well, suddenly you have this blank state of mind and have no idea how to do things anymore.
Some report feeling blank for a brief moment when entering the kitchen, slowly going back to where they were before, never to know why they went to the kitchen in the first place.
On the topic of telemetry and tracking, did you know nvidia drivers on Windows come bundled with a bunch of tracking software services?
Get some free tracking with your drivers! ☢️
An old article about this, not sure if still up to date, but still quite "interesting"

@hoergen I advise against claudia usage and new stuff added for it. The tool is abandoned now, and so has been ladish for many years.
Anything that can speak the NSM protocol is a good alternative.
RaySession has a manual here https://raysession.tuxfamily.org/en/manual
And Agordejo here https://www.laborejo.org/documentation/agordejo/english.html
@unfa I only know this part, somehow it worked when I didnt expect it to because even youtube-dl fails.
@hoergen that makes me think I should do a guide for helping out packaging on KXStudio repos.
Or maybe a way to convert some AUR like scripts to build package hmmm
Please open a ticket on https://github.com/KXStudio/Repository/issues about this specific plugin. At some point I will dedicate 1 or 2 days just for packaging stuff.
My new video is public on YouTube!
It's a 1.5 hour long in-depth tutorial about making sound files loop seamlessly (using Audacity and Ardour for comparison).
Enjoy!

@suetanvil@mastodon.technology @hoergen I don't think we are going very far only waiting for others to do it.
If you want to have something being done properly, you have to do it yourself.
Everyone is waiting for a fork. But no one is really putting the needed effort and time investment on it.
I wouldn't count on there being a usable Audacity fork that is still kept up to date by next year.
@rmdes do you plan to use audacity? otherwise the email will do nothing, as there will be nothing to delete..
@suetanvil@mastodon.technology @hoergen go ahead then ;)
@unfa I had the same stupid silly issue. somehow was able to watch via kodi youtube addon, dont know how..
@hoergen well you can't legally track minors, so they must add that little note in there. makes sense after you think about it.
That stupid note would not be needed if there were no analytics in the first place.. 🤷
The audacity desktop application now has a privacy notice, as expected.
Read it at https://www.audacityteam.org/about/desktop-privacy-notice/
I found this part particularly "interesting"...
