@boo_ @unfa why not going for Carla wine bridges then? setting it up might be a bit of work, but then it is just a matter of drag&drop the plugin dll into Carla.

@boo_ @unfa well the good news is that wine (mostly) runs on Haiku too, so eventually yabridge could be made to work too! Or maybe through Carla, didn't try it yet.

@unfa Carla can run on HaikuOS! No MIDI, but audio works via SDL engine.
LMMS is there too by the way.

I try it from time to time, big fan <3
The stuff I need the most all works there, with the exception of docker (though that is kinda expected)

Once they have good USB streaming support (so sound cards work) I am considering changing, or at least trying it more seriously

@AsahiLinux that is the link I was looking for, reported the issue in there just now, thanks!

@AsahiLinux err forgot to attach screenshot to previous post

this is from github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal
the web version uses web-assembly via emscripten with GLES2.0 mode
but same issue happens on desktop too, it is just easier to reproduce by opening a link

@AsahiLinux any chance someone from your side could have a look at minicardinal.kx.studio/ to indicate what is wrong with the lack of background color on the menus?

Linux on M1 works fine except for this tiny thing... 😢
Seems to be a nanovg related thing? But I don't know if it is me setting up something wrong, or the GL driver having a little bug.

@adam @tenacity for my own builds of Carla, Ildaeil, Cardinal and a few other things I refuse to pay the "remove the scary warning we put in place purposefully" extortion fee

For now there are still ways around it - on macOS apps can be started by right-clicking twice, pkgs (used for. audio plugins) can be installed also with right-click.

The moment it becomes impossible to run unsigned binaries is the moment I stop build macOS builds

@falktx@mastodon.falktx.com @woof@fedi.aria.dog you can go to a Masto or Pleroma instance's About page, look at the Moderated servers list, and search for your domain.

The better way is to go to
https://fba.ryona.agency and search for your domain there.

Do search for both the entire domain (mastodon.falktx.com) and without the subdomain (falktx.com).

@woof how can you know you are blocked on these other instances?
wondering if my self-hosting also raises red flags randomly somewhere too...

It sucks so bad how github & clones are an environment where social interaction can only ever happen around problems. Your first interaction with someone generally initiated by a crashlog. Your conversation closed when it works.

@lina that patchbay graph looks very familiar... 😄

@objectObject they found ways to detect those and ban them. they still give 6h builds for free, which is enough for almost any build.
I somehow managed to break that limit, LTO over a big binary just takes too damn long... :(

@falktx Codeberg is working on a federated software forge work Forgejo. They’re even on fedi. @forgejo

@bitbucket90 @monsieuricon

@odo I had to stop doing those because my old way of building couldnt do the needed C++14 for VST3 SDK and JUCE. I am now again moving away from JUCE, at least on the Linux builds, so maybe I can revive that.

But with Carla on the KXStudio repos and typically within-the-same-day in ArchLinux, I dont feel it is quite necessary to ship the old-style Linux binaries as much.
Carla using Python + Qt makes it weird for generic binaries on Linux... will revisit this later for 2.6.x series

@mhoye @cnx I dont think that is a good example of why Ubuntu got popular, it was more of the stuff contained in it that for a long time Debian was trying to avoid. Now corrected with bookworm with the use of non-free firmware.

and honestly dont think using Ubuntu is a good example, as its popularity also comes from the intense approach to commercial partners and other decisions.

it is never fair to compair a company with lots of funds vs free volunteer work, the scale is unbalanced.

@cnx @mhoye oh yeah I can understand that part. so many headaches over the years with projects using autoreconf/automake/autohell stuff that just breaks for the most random reasons... 😱
for much that I dislike cmake, at least it made things more standardized.

@mhoye what about those without an installer? why is an installer even needed? just grab the release binaries, typically from a linux distro repo near you
