I've just implemented VST3 multi-bus support in Ardour.

Time to play with some fancy drum synths!

After reading all these comments about the #SteamDeck here on #Mastodon I finally decided to buy one too. I haven't played games since 2015 and I only start again because I am able to do it on #Linux with support for #Flatpak.
Which also means the Steam Deck is #PicPlanner approved! 😄
Switch to desktop mode, start the KDE store, search for PicPlanner, press install.
I would have never guessed to see PicPlanner on a gaming console 😄

Mixer complete!

Based on the Moritz Klein Clipping Distortion Mixer, with 4 channels instead of 3.

Sadly, I couldn’t get the clipping distortion to work. But everything else worked perfectly on the first try. I don’t really care for the distortion feature, in fact, I should have added a 5th mixer channel and skipped it entirely, which would have let me use a smaller op amp. Too late for that, so I added printed plugs in the holes where the diode clipping circuit would go if it worked.

I will really need a real rack soon, and also a way to power up my modules, my test busboard made of stripboard can only power 3 at once, I could build a bigger one right now, but I’m expecting busboard PCBs soon. I’ll also need a PSU when I finally make a decent case (don’t worry, as much as I love my janky 3D printed builds and cheap components, I’m serious about safety for the power supply)

check out bespoke visible on the front page of MUTEK's site!! montreal.mutek.org/

much gratitude to NSDOS for including bespoke in his performance!

for those that self-host discourse for community forums.. how big of a maintenance burden is it? does it take a lot of resources from the server?

from time to time I wonder if kxstudio, carla, dpf, distrho ports, cardinal and related projects should have a central place of discussion.
I still have a rocketchat instance running, but it rarely sees any activity, and it is just not the type of place best suited for long-term discussions..

could replace one for the other 🤔

If you don't understand how #fediblock is used to victimize trans people, here's a clear example of it: you see any trans woman who's a little bit uppity that it is used for transmisoginy, you just call for that bitch to be put back in her place on completely fabricated premises.

Obviously, nobody who takes a minute to read my posts will reach the conclusion my attitude is any less than friendly.
But it doesn't matter: the audience of such posts are people who will never take a minute to check out my instance. Such reports provide them with plausible deniability to block trans people who are a bit too colorful and don't play along with predatory social mechanic.

Protesting injustice where it happens — in this instance, in the hashtag used to make it happen — is the proper avenue to protest.

@falktx @prokoudine @GIMP
GIMP 3.0.2 (might be another version if we have urgent bugs to fix or whatever after 3.0.0) should have link layers too. I.e. linking an external image as a layer in GIMP. Link layers can be used e.g. when you want to share an image across several artworks, or if you want to edit the image in an external software. To stay in the vector world, you could load an external SVG file as a link layer, keep editing it in @inkscape and have the render update in GIMP.

Knee-deep in papers on ICT4S – ‘ICT for Sustainability’. Usually well-intentioned, but often of a ‘tech will save us’ bent, missing any political analysis or question of how we got here. Case in point: the suggestion of ‘bayesian networks to discover supply chains using child labour’. Great. But better to transition to a system that doesn’t have exploitation of humans and nature as an ineluctable part of how it functions, no?

Maybe I suffer from confirmation bias , but my assumption in regards to (corporate or community led) projects developed on mailing lists by now is:

* I will *never* get answers to any of my questions
* Improvements for build or release process are ignored
* Suggestions for improvements (e.g. test infrastructure, CI) are met with aggression

Okay, we know... We made fun of Adobe when its cloud service went down. We've made fun of Corel Painter and Clip Studio. We joined in the protest No AI Generated Images protest. We made our stance on NFT's clear. But this is beyond making fun of. This is EW! EW! EW!
