today I realized mobile data would not cut it for me in the new office. so I went to setup a contract with an internet provider...
they are passing by tomorrow morning and by noon I will have 100Mb fiber internet.

I was so used to internet being shit in germany (berlin).
I thought I would have to wait 2 weeks, and then be on watch all day.
hah, none of that shit here, wow 😎

how much does vendor lockin cost?

@unfa I have looked into it before, contrary to other stuff from teragonaudio, KickMaker was done with win32 APIs and can't just be made to work with Linux. They started some conversion work into Juce, but it was never finished

@gcrkrause The idea has been there for a while, has been my long-term goal since quite a few years. I am still not sure if it will be possible, but I want to try!

@gcrkrause Yes, I will have to make some adjustments. Though it is tricky with crowd-funding, as very suddenly things can go very wrong. So if it happens, it won't be right away, but I will begin making up a plan for it. So hopefully shortly after the goal is reached, yes :)

@unfa @gcrkrause the solution here is UBI - universal basic income. that is the first step to a general better quality of life, without to have to trade our life-time for it.
I am with @gcrkrause here, capitalism hurts more than it helps. It had its good run, but it is time to replace it. We don't need to keep pump out new "shiny" products every couple of months, it is not sustainable, it is hurting the planet :(

@gcrkrause yes indeed. officially not working on mondays, but I end up being online and helping a bit still. since I am already on the PC doing other things...

@gcrkrause On my last job I tried to push for 4day work week too, but the developers there would rather work more and be paid more too, even though they were already doing quite well in terms of salary... some people love money a bit too much..

@gcrkrause Mondays are amazing if you don't officially work that day. 4-day work week is quite nice :)

@iaad KXStudio used to have an ISO/linux-distro, but I stopped that for now as it is quite a lot of work to maintain.

You can use them together, but the UbuntuStudio is doing a lot of work so that the KXStudio repositories are not needed. Carla is in Ubuntu thanks to them 😎

Recently began setting up an office for work and other things. The important working area is mostly ready 😀

@iaad It is not a fight, there are usecases for both. And it is not something that can be compared directly anyway
