Some suggestions/incentives on things we can do to not leave a bad mark here would be nice.

Otherwise feels we are only perpetuating the cycle of "expats ruin city by means of gentrification". We do not need to maintain the status quo, and staying here gives an uneasy feeling of contributing to it.

Don't want to be associated with the same non-conference attending people as there are here. They already look at us as if we are bothering them anyway.

I haven't seen this mentioned in so far - contributing to the local community where the event takes place.

People working on IT jobs tend to be on a privileged position, and this hotel hilton place shows an enormous amount of wealth vs the just outside of it.
We don't even have to go far, just a walk behind to the nearest metro station we can see a few homeless people.

@cnx nice tip! just tried adding a big one, pending @federationstream@mstdn.social approval.

on a self-hosted instance, anyone knows how to get content from other instances such as mastodon.social/tags/ubuntusum ?

when searching/listing on mine, I dont see the stuff from other instances. is there some config or thing to enable somewhere?

And by I mean events.canonical.com/event/2/

Will be traveling tomorrow for it, first time in Prague, and in Czech Republic too.

No talks/presentations from me this time, was bad timing for me with so many other things going on..
Serves to get a feel for these Ubuntu (not developer) summits, if all goes well and next year we have another one hopefully I will be on presenter mode. ๐ŸŽค

How come I dont see anything for ? It starts Monday already, c'mon let's toot!

Every Mastodon explanation is like "It's very simple, your account is part of a kerflunk, and each kerflunk can talk to each other as part of a bumblurt. At the moment everyone you flurgle can see your bloops but only people IN your kerflunk can quark your nerps. Kinda like email."

Hey all, for those potentially interested in DPF (or audio plugin development in general) I have created an audio plugin template at
github.com/DISTRHO/imgui-templ

Uses cmake for build system and ImGui for the GUI, so hopefully some will be familiar to at least one of these.

Can be helpful for easy experimentation.

If you are not familiar with ImGui, can really recommend to check it out at github.com/ocornut/imgui

Achievement unlocked: get all the DISTRHO stuff listed in clapdb.tech/ ๐Ÿญ ๐Ÿญ ๐Ÿญ

The dedicated page clapdb.tech/developer/distrho has a nice size to it.

Now we just need to update the several plugins in github.com/DISTRHO/DPF/wiki/Pl to latest DPF so we can enable CLAP ๐Ÿ‘ (and VST3 ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ) support "for free".

It's kinda crazy that I have over 3500 followers here on #Mastodon :D
Thanks! I hope you're enjoying my stuff!

@n0toose nothing of the sort, I just dont think this is the platform for such things and discussions. short messages are not good for proper long discussions in my opinion.

also, seeing people rant (at least to me) puts me completely off the topic and any possible discussion.
if someone is ranting they dont want a discussion, they want to be right.

@n0toose it is not the opensource devs and projects that bring github money, so obviously they have more corporate oriented features present.
anyhow I just wanted to correct a minor but common misconception. and github doesnt make that very clear...

anyhow, your lengthy replies to this do not push anyone your way.
maybe write those on a blog post or something..

@n0toose you can disable pull requests on github, but it is a per organization setting. their ToS mention this.

And release is tagged.
DPF-Plugins v1.6 is out
github.com/DISTRHO/DPF-Plugins

(DPF-Plugins is a collection of DPF-based plugins, including Kars, MVerb and Nekobi)

This release brings some fixes alongside finishing the VST3 versions and adds CLAP support.
Enjoy!

DPF-Plugins release incoming, get ready for a bunch of ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ all at once!

Fixed up all known bugs, meaning ProM works stable yet again.

Its usefulness is questionable, but the coolness is not. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

@prokoudine I like how you call it "Weekly-ish" now ๐Ÿ˜‚

Weekly-ish recap is out: @GIMP is getting text strokes, @inkscape and @krita have all sorts of useful features in the progress, Ardour 7.0 is out, and so is MuseScore 4.0 beta

@be @nebunez oh I read that already, but now I see there are updates...

with care the screen can remain working though I feel its wobbling already yeah...

the battery is just... damn we know for sure it is not going to last forever so just have enough in stock... ๐Ÿ˜ก

@nebunez Oh the laptop has its fair share of issues, build quality is quite subpar. I can no longer open it due to the backplate screws being all messed up, among other things...

But still usable even with its faults.

A bad battery totally kills its usefulness though. I already have a beefy desktop PC...

Purism responded to my query regarding laptop battery.

> I'm afraid we still do not have batteries for Librem 15 models, and even if did, you're right, it would be problematic to ship to Europe.

This is quite annoying. Laptop is only around 2 years old...
Soon enough it will be unusable as portable device :(

Kinda ridiculous in my opinion. So much for sustainability ๐Ÿ˜
